Welcome to the Courtney Children's Foundation web site. It is our hope that the information on the following web pages will increase awareness of the lack of pre and post natal care that confronts at risk pregnant teens and women in our service area.

Our Mission Statement to reduce the occurrence of low birth weight babies and the reduction of infant mortality in the critical first year of an infant's life remains viable after all of our 14 years of operation. This goal is accomplished by an all-volunteer group of women dedicated to provide mother-to-mother one-on-one support for first time mothers, pregnant teens, and at- risk pregnant women.

Our Purpose is threefold:

• to facilitate a team of dedicated volunteers who provide one-on-one mentorship, support, and guidance to young women in their own communities;
• to educate the community at large on the social and economic value of this care;
• to give children a better and healthier start in life.

The Courtney Children's Foundation's two principal programs, Baby Find and $mart Shop, promote a community partnership for healthy babies and their families. The impact of this goal is to reduce infant mortality and eliminate as much hospital cost for premature infants, weighing under 5.5 lbs, through appropriate prenatal care: a cost, which can exceed $250,000 per infant. The elimination of only one low weight premature infant and its potential for death within its first year of birth more than justifies the cost of our entire present annual budget.

We are a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization fully accredited by the United Way of Southern Nevada. Tax deductible contributions purchase diapers, formula, vitamins, cribs, clothing, bus tokens, bottles, home supplies to name just a few of the necessities so often needed. No fees are ever charged. Approximately ninety cents of every dollar received is used directly for the needs of our clients.
